Following on from our previous episode, we have a few more tips to share on how to prepare for a test photo shoot.
We continue with the preparations before the actual photo shoot. Your next step is to get in touch with the photographer and discuss the look you want to achieve. Ask for advice on clothing and makeup. A prior conversation or meeting with the photographer will help you get to know him/her better and understand what will be required of you on the day of the shoot. Ask for a mood board or references (sample photos) to guide you.
Make sure to pick the right clothes in advance and send photos to your photographer and stylist for approval. It's important to have a selection of different elegant and stylish outfits. You can use your own or ask a friend to lend you some. It is not common practice to hire a stylist for these photo sessions because they are not commercial. However, if your photographer collaborates with stylists, you can discuss this option with them. Your agency should also be involved in the choice of clothing and may even assist you in this. As for the clothes themselves, they should be in neutral colors with clean lines and no patterns. The goal is for them to highlight you and not divert the attention from your image.

Another important step is to make sure you look presentable in advance. This means washing your hair, shaving, and keeping your fingernails and toenails neat and clean. Women should wear nude-colored nail polish or gel polish. Men should also be clean-shaven, unless they have a beard that is part of their style.
